Animal Spirits
As Native Americans and other indigenous cultures know well, the spirits of animals are also our teachers and guides. They come to us in visions and dreams and in the physical world to share their “medicine” with us, their wisdom and their power. These animal spirits are not mythical; they are energetic beings who love us and support us in meeting the challenges of our spiritual journey while on Earth.
The Setting
For ten years until the Covid era, I worked part-time at a local nursing home, facilitating a meditation and healing circle among other activities. It was a joy to work with the residents – they were my heart. And the people who came to the circle over several years were extraordinary souls who co-created the energy and the experiences of the group with me and with Spirit. It was during one of these meditation and healing group meetings that a significant Spirit Animal appeared to us. (I had their permission to speak about our experience at that time.)
Our sessions would begin with relaxation exercises and several minutes of mindfulness meditation. Then we imagined combining our individual hearts into a single open heart, and we imagined bringing the Earth into that heart space. Enveloping the globe with the brilliant, living light of Spirit’s healing love, we asked that all beings be blessed and healed including the Earth herself. We would envision the earth’s land and plant life, her air and her waters being cleansed and purified. We asked for and envisioned the healing of all two-legged beings, all four-legged ones, those who fly or swim or crawl—all beings. May all beings be well. May all beings be happy. May all hearts be healed.
Our Intentions Matter
During one of our meetings, as we imagined holding up the globe to receive Spirit’s healing light, I was shown a stunning vision. An angelic Being of Light was holding what looked like some kind of mirror or lens over our healing intentions for the Earth. This “light-being” seemed to be employing the technique of starting a fire by concentrating and focusing sunlight onto a combustible substance. I heard the words, “Spirit is intensifying your intentions to help all beings heal and awaken, and it is magnifying them in order to ignite a symbolic fire of divine love and healing in the world.” I was filled with gratitude beyond words. I told the group members about the vision and we shared in the joy. We were thrilled that we had truly co-created this beautiful message from Spirit.
Our Magnificent Elephant Spirit
As we were coming to the close of our circle and beginning to come back into waking consciousness, a massive and magnificent elephant appeared in my mind. I was awestruck, and was soon informed that this breathtaking creature was our circle’s Animal Spirit. I have always been in love with elephants. I’m in awe of their spirit and their power and many things I can’t put into words. For all of my life, just the thought of an elephant elicits a wave of love from my heart. This love goes out not only to elephants but to all of this magical life that is made more sacred and beautiful because elephants are in it. I thanked our magnificent Elephant Spirit for joining us and for supporting us.
Later that evening I researched elephant spirit guides online and was amazed to read (on the first web site that I sampled) that “by connecting to elephant spirit, we affect planetary healing beyond the space-time continuum.” (emphasis added) Even as I write these words I get a chill of recognition from Spirit letting me know that yes, that’s exactly what was happening in the group. The call of our focused love and our intentions to help the planet heal was responded to and magnified by Spirit’s love. The power of this force of love is not bound by the illusions of time and space. It is bound only by what we believe is possible.
I offer you that what is indeed true and real is so much deeper and more miraculous and mystical than anything we’ve been programmed to perceive and to believe. You and I are limitless awareness. We are the immense power of Spirit’s love in form. And our only limitation is one of a limited imagination.
You are so powerful
Please know that you are sacred because you are the living embodiment of an inexpressible, indescribable love. You are this love in form. You are an extension of Spirit, of Source, and your focused consciousness is so potentially powerful that any change of heart you can allow, any emotional healing that you may choose, like forgiveness or compassion, starting with yourself, can and does affect the entire unified energy field of the planet!
Can you imagine it, dear one? Can you imagine that your healing of your heart can and does affect the hearts of all beings in creation? As the embodiment of a love beyond what you can comprehend, you are so significant and so powerful that your healing alone could conceivably tip the balance of energy from dark to light—from fear and hatred to compassion and gentleness—on the Earth. If you can imagine it, it is so.
